“Love has always been transactional” – Nigerian singer Omawumi

Nigerian singer Omawumi has disclosed the stance of love in relationships as Nigerians have swerved into heated debates and reactions.

Speaking about love in relationships, Omawumi disclosed that against all odds, it has always been transactional even though the younger generation portrays it way differently.

According to her, love have always been transactional even though it is way more distinct these days.

Reflecting on her utterances, she detailed that earlier, men would often buy gifts for the women they admired. However, it is way distinct as of the current as most women are entitled to the gift and monetary transactions.

She added that even at the phase of its status so far, relationships have always been transactional as most often gifts are necessity.

Perhaps, she reflected that the difference has escalated to the point where it became one-sided as women tend to only receive failing to return energy.

“Love has always been transactional since the beginning of time. But our own transactional was different from what the younger generation thinks it is today.”

“Back then, like in secondary school to university days, it was just holding hands, crushing on a girl or a boy, buying ice cream and popcorn. But now, it has turned to iPhone.”

“There has always been some level of transactional behaviour in relationships. If you are feeling somebody, like I always encourage, if I’m with a man that showers me with gifts, I always try to match that energy. That’s what it is about.”

“But people don’t see women matching the energy. They just see the women on the collecting end.”
