PSG midfielder Joao Neves has been on the toll of criticism since the view of his recent comment on his Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
After drawing against DR Congo at their 2026 FIFA World Cup opener, with Ronaldo also playing a vital role to influence in the game, Joao Neves disclosed his take on the legendary player.
While attending to the press, Joao Neves disclosed that in as much as the whole Portugal team recognises Ronaldo’s influence and what he had done in the world of football, he is no other player as he is in the world campaign to help Portugal just like other players.
His words:
”Ronaldo is a very important player for us, but we are a team where everyone has the same responsibility and everyone has to contribute equally. No one is above the group.”
This didn’t likely digest well with Ronaldo’s fans, who heavily criticized Joao Neves for expressing his view on Ronaldo, attracting an exceeding comments of over 30k on his Instagram handle.
The disturbing toll revolving at Portugal’s camp has outgrew a considerate part where most people including footballers has openly criticized Ronaldo and pin pointed him as the barrier that may cost Portugal their World Cup glory as his influence may be affecting teamplay.
