
France and the new Real Madrid defender, Konate, has opened up about his mental struggle he fought secretly.
The defender recently admitted to battling depression over the loss of his close friend and father.
According to him, depression is a reality toll no one can escape as he was recently a victim. He disclosed that the tragic passing of Jota impacted overly on his mental health. Also, while he was on the brink of recovering from the trauma, his father also passed away.
This overly derived him into depression he battled for a committed, consistent time until he was able to deter from the emotion.
Speaking up, he detailed his experience further, sparking massive reactions from football fans across the club.
His words:
“Depression is personal; it’s deep inside you. When you’re depressed, it starts in the heart, goes up to the brain and takes over your whole body. For me, that’s what’s hard, and we need to talk about it.”
“There was never a moment when I felt like I was on the mend. All of these tragic events happened so quickly and as soon as I felt like I was getting my head above water, something else happened.”
“It devastated me. I didn’t have any interest in anything else at that point. You go back to football because you have no choice..There’s no way of getting over it, but you learn to live with it.”
Jota’s death, in reality, astonished the football world amid how it came as an unexpected tragedy. He died from a reckless auto crash alongside his brother.
