Canadian rap superstar Drake takes a different creative route with “FOMO,” a new visual project officially presented as a “not so short film.” After weeks of cryptic teasers, countdowns, and fan speculation, the project arrived on September 15, 2026, marking another unexpected move from the OVO boss.
Rather than following the usual album rollout, FOMO is built around the idea of making the most of one summer. The project touches on friendship, human connection, vulnerability, taking risks, and the fear of missing out on important moments in life. Drake has described the work as “self-funded surrealism,” giving the release a personal and unconventional direction.
The mysterious rollout had fans guessing about what Drake was preparing. Physical CD jewel cases, teaser clips, and cryptic countdowns sparked speculation that FOMO could be linked to new music, a surprise album, or even a tour announcement. However, the project ultimately arrived as a cinematic release, directed and scored by members of Drake’s close creative circle.
An earlier teaser showed Drake piloting a neon-green speedboat while a female narrator raised questions about living a life driven by fear or choosing to embrace vulnerability. The visual helped set the tone for a project centred on taking chances and making memorable moments count.
With “FOMO,” Drake once again steps outside the conventional music-release format to deliver something more visual and experimental. The project is now available for fans to experience as another addition to his eventful 2026 catalogue.
