Dark, mysterious, and cinematic, Taylor Swift steps into a new chapter with “Patient Zero,” her latest pop release officially out at midnight on September 25, 2026.
Meanwhile, the song arrives as the lead single from The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded edition of her 2025 studio album released today.
The new era began with a trail of cryptic clues, including Swift’s use of zeros in place of the letter “O” across her social media profiles. The mystery eventually led to the announcement of a four-song deluxe expansion featuring “Patient Zero,” “Pink Clouding,” “Babylon,” and “Cleveland!”
Although “Patient Zero” is available to stream now, the full music video is scheduled to premiere on September 27 during the MTV Video Music Awards. Swift is also set to receive the ceremony’s inaugural Artist Director Honors.
The release adds another major moment to Swift’s current creative run, bringing together a new song, an expanded album, and a highly anticipated visual for what promises to be one of the standout releases of the weekend.
